Piazza Carrobiolo is a small square in the heart of Monza’s historic center, a short walk from Piazza Roma and the Arengario, along the pedestrian street of Via Carlo Alberto. Its name derives from carrobbio , the small crossroads where carts once stopped near the ancient city gates. Overlooking the square is the complex of the Church and Convent of Santa Maria al Carrobiolo, founded in 1232 by the Humiliati di Sant’Agata and entrusted in 1573 to the Barnabite Fathers, who still guard it today: one of the most evocative and history-rich corners of the center, which during the Monza FuoriGP hosts exhibitions, food and live music.
